COMMENTS: Freyani heavy fighter interceptor. Originally developed by the Freyaspace Corporation as a planetary defense fighter-interceptor under the designation of Project J-15 (Jäger, 15 tons). The Kurnass was deployed as the primary heavy fighter aboard fleet carriers of the Confederation of Ursa Major (Freya Pact) Navy and as a planetary defense interceptor for all member worlds of the Confederation. The Kurnass saw action in all three of the space battles over Freya.

The latest version in service is built to the Tech Level 11 standard.

A slightly lighter laser-only version was built as a prototype, but was rejected for service.

Kurnass (Hammer) was the Israeli designation of the McDonnell Douglas F-4E fighter-bomber in Israeli service.
